UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories to protect the rights of every child. UNICEF has spent 75 years working to improve the lives of children and their families. Defending children’s rights throughout their lives requires a global presence, aiming to produce results and understand their effects. UNICEF believes all children have a right to survive, thrive and fulfil their potential – to the benefit of a better world.
For more than 50 years, UNICEF has recognized the critical role of the private sector in achieving sustainable change for children. UNICEF closely with multi-national corporations, national companies and small- to medium-sized businesses to identify, design and implement partnerships that leverage the strengths of the private sector on behalf of the world’s children, especially the most vulnerable.
UNICEF Oman is working to strengthen its advocacy and engagement with the private sector to ensure that children’s rights are addressed. The private sector plays a crucial role in supporting UNICEF’s ability to deliver results for children, both by raising vital revenue and by supporting advocacy and delivery of the child rights agenda.
Oman is at a critical juncture with regard to the growth of partnerships between the public and private sectors in relation to provision of key services that contribute to human capital formation and UNICEF must thus ensure that its programme is able to bridge the gap between the two. Education and health services, in particular, are at the forefront of UNICEF Oman’s work on the important role that the private sector can play to reimagine a future for every child.
